Prestage
RP Constructors steps in to solve wastewater issues for Prestage Foods of Iowa, completing the project on-time & for less than the competition.
Wastewater issues are a problem many companies don’t have the time or expertise to solve. RP Constructors is unique because the combined services of our constructors and engineering firm, CEC allow us to design, build, and operate a complete system faster and for less money than others. When Prestage Foods of Iowa required a new wastewater treatment plant, RP Constructors was called in by an outside engineering firm to complete the work. The firm, having worked with RP Constructors in the past, knew we could design and build a wastewater solution that would solve the processors’ waste issues, allowing them to focus on producing food.
What We Did
Wastewater issues is a problem many companies don’t have the time or expertise to solve. RP Constructors is unique because the combined services of our constructors and engineering firm, CEC allow us to design, build, and operate a complete system faster and for less money than others. When Prestige Foods of Iowa required a new wastewater treatment plant, RP Constructors was called in by an outside engineering firm to complete the work. Prestige Foods of Iowa is a top pork producer and constructed a new, several hundred-million-dollar facility south of Eagle Grove, Iowa. It employs more than 900 full-time workers. Processing hogs causes a lot of waste, and some waste ends up in the wastewater. While eventually the facility effluent was to be discharged to the City of Eagle Grove for final treatment, the strength of the wastewater when leaving the pork processing facility was too strong to simply discharge. There also were additional resources (grease, biogas) that Prestige wished to recover from the waste stream prior to sending to the City. The system gave Prestige Foods a solution to its wastewater issues on time and for less than the competition. It was a 12 to 18-month project that was completed by spring 2019.
